Heart failure and obesity: semaglutide improved symptoms and physical capacity
In STEP-HFpEF, symptoms, physical limitation and walking distance improved versus placebo.
STEP-HFpEF studied people with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction and obesity. They received weekly semaglutide or placebo for 52 weeks.
Semaglutide led to larger reductions in symptoms and physical limitation, greater improvement in the six-minute walk test and more weight loss than placebo. The effect held across all obesity classes analysed.
In three points
- Human trial, 52 weeks, placebo-controlled
- Fewer symptoms and better walking capacity
- Consistent results across obesity classes
